2023 Challenge

The Flying Geese Quilters Guild
2023 Challenge
"Free to Fly":

The Challenge Quilts will be exhibited at the April 10, 2023 Meeting

Quilts and entry forms are due by 3-13-23
or at the September Guild Meeting.

Challenge Contest Rules:

 

  1. Entrants must be current members of the FGQG and have purchased a $10 packet at a guild meeting.
  2. Through piecing, applique, or other quilting methods, your quilt should represent a person, place, thing, or event relevant to the "Free to Fly" theme
  3. Quilts must
    Size:
    width or length = Min. 30 inches to Max 45 inches          
  4. The quilt top must be completely constructed by the person named on the entry form.
  5. All entries must be quilted; either by hand or machine, or both. Machine quilting is allowed by others. All names of the individuals who worked on the quilt must appear on the entry form.
  6. Quilts must be a single unit and not framed by wood, metal, etc. And have the ability to be folded or rolled for shipping, if necessary.
  7. A recognizable amount of the two Challenge fabrics (4), must be used on the quilt top and may not appear on the binding only.
  8. A recognizable amount of the organza must be included in the quilt.
  9. Stretch yourself by using a new technique or something you haven't done before.
  10. One or more Flying Geese Units (in piecing or applique, an outline in thread does not qualify) must be visible on the surface of the Quilt top.
  11. A 4" rod pocket/hanging sleeve must be sewn across the full width of the quilt a the top edge of the quilt back.
  12. Extra fabric or embellishments may be used in your quilt.
  13. A label with the maker's name must be attached to the lower back left edge of the quilt.
